Test

Test to see if new posts are showing up in the Reader. My last two posts are missing and I suspect many of yours, blogs I follow, are too because there are only a handful from ‘2 days ago’ when there usually are about eighty or so. What’s up with this? Anyone else notice ghost posts? (They’re there on the actual site, and if I search by tag, just not in Reader, which is what I rely on to read bloggers’ new posts.)

I see your post in the Reader. I also select some blogs to appear in my email by using the “manage” option and changing the settings for this.

Thanks Frank. Maybe I should opt for email notifications. It’s just that I always thought WP Reader was reliable, and nice and consolidated too. Guess not. Curious, have you posted anything in the last few days? I’m going to check my Reader to see if yours show up.

I have had that happen to me on occasion, which is why I follow my own blog to make sure my posts show up 🙂

I thought it was automatic to follow your own blog. I mean, I always see my posts in the Reader. Do you know why this happens? It’s weird because they (last 3 posts actually) showed up for 24 hours or so, then they’re gone. And like I said, other bloggers’ posts are missing too. So, it eventually just fixes itself?

that’s been my experience. I have noticed it more often when I keep the app or a browser window open for a long period of time, then use it to post. I usually restart the computer and it seems to correct itself. The WP app is the one I usually have issues with

Good to know. Yes, the WP app crashes often, and it seems the more often I close (or refresh it, I don’t know the precise term) the more often it crashes, so I try to just keep it open. Maybe this is the problem. Thanks. Btw, I can see all of your posts in the Reader:)

Cool, I’m happy to help 👍😊

          • Like you, when I scrolled back in time, I had a good number of posts in the Reader that I had not seen before. (Hmm…where was I two days ago?!?) I too have noticed more WP app crashes on my iPad in the last few weeks compared to before (almost never before). I think maybe something has recently changed. There is a June 5 update that I haven’t done yet. Maybe that will fix it? I’m hopeful!

Let me know if you do the update, if it helps. How do you find out about updates? Maybe my settings are just not set to be notified of them…

              • On my iPad I get a notification on the App Store to let me know when there is an update. If that’s turned off, you won’t see anything. Try going to “Settings” and then “Notifications” and look for “App Store” on the listing. Then you can see if you’re set correctly. I just switched mine to “off” and all of them went away. I’d never have know that I needed to do the updated. So. You may want. To check there.

Just in case you’re interested, I’ve been talking with tech support and he basically said all of my posts are visible in his Reader when he follows me, so the error is just my Reader. He wrote:

“If it’s in the app that you’re seeing the gap in the feed, that’s a known issue, and we’re working on it. It should be fixed in a future update to the app, but I can’t tell you when that will be.

In a browser you shouldn’t see any gaps in the feed, though I think there is a limit in how many posts we load into the Reader so if you follow a high number of sites you might not be able to go back more than a few days.”

The gap in the feed is a whole day of posts that was missing, in my case.

              • Wow! That is a big gap. I was wondering if the crash had something to do with following more sites than the app could reasonably load and “catch up.” I think most people do leave it open, not wanting to miss anything. Hmm…

Make sure you are following your own blog in order to verify it appears in the reader.

You’re not alone, I’ve been having some issues with the reader as well. Not exactly the same. No solutions so far, hoping it resets itself with time. Wishing you good luck, and your post appeared in my reader today. ~ Mia

Hi Mia, good to hear from you! I’ve been working with an Admin who basically said that the gap of missing posts in the Reader is a glitch on the WP mobile app that happens every now and then and they are working to fix. Thanks for your comment.

You’re most welcome. I’m pleased to read the good news. Wishing the rest of your day to be filled with inspiration and creativity, enjoy.
